Urge Your MP to #GetTheBanDone

It’s been ten years since Cecil the lion was killed by an American trophy hunter in Zimbabwe.

Cecil’s killing sparked international public outrage, with calls for an end to the obscene so-called ‘sport’ of trophy hunting.

Here in the UK, the public has consistently called for a ban on the importation of hunting trophies. While this wouldn’t, in and of itself, end trophy hunting in other countries, it would send a strong signal that the UK does not support this activity and could act as a catalyst for other countries to do the same.

However, despite repeated promises, successive governments have failed to act.

Our current Labour government promised to ban the import of hunting trophies in its election manifesto, but so far this has not been done.

Please write to your MP using our template letter, asking them to lobby the Secretary of State for Environment to table the necessary legislation to ban trophy imports without further delay.

With your help, we can make 2025, the 10th anniversary of the death of Cecil the lion, the year we finally see an end to the UK’s role in trophy hunting.

Let’s #GetTheBanDone
